Sporting a Fight With Fists

Fist Fighting is a hands on activity, that branches off into a numerous number of sports. These sports include boxing, karate, martial arts, wrestling, and etc. A fist fight by definition is "a spontaneous fight with bare fists.'' According to this definition, fist fighting can be considered a sport! To be classified as a sport you need an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes, which in many cases, is what fist fighting is. The sport boxing is a popular sport and is known to help let out negative emotions (like sadness, anger, fear, etc.). Just like boxing you can use fist fighting as a way to beat up negative emotions.  click here

Max Vandenburg, a Jewish man who befriended Liesel, grew up fist fighting. Max would often fight with boys around his own age because he loved to fight. The passage in the book clearly states, "In those days, they said the Jews preferred to simply stand and take things. Take the abuse quietly and work their way up to the top. Obviously, every Jew is not the same" (MZ 188). Max Vandenburg is not one to be passive, he will take charge and stand up for himself! The chapter, "A Short History Of A Jewish Fist Fighter" shows the readers how Max loves the thrill and excitement when he is fighting. Not only this, but fist fighting is a method that Max uses to help cope with his emotions and plausibly to manage the grief that came with the death of his father.   click here Even when Max is stuck in the Huberman's basement you can tell he would kill for a good fight.
